Tindersticks

As far as I'm concerned the Tindersticks should be bigger than what they are, at least outside of the UK. This Nottingham, England band has been turning out great music since 1992. Their music is both moody and soulful. The lyrics, are often sang in a low mumble, adding to the complexity of layers that the music is constructed in. If you're a fan of either Scott Walker, Nick Cave, or Mark Lanegan, I'd highly reccomend the Tindersticks!
